ONLINE SHOPPING

SHOP AND SHIP

By Carmen Smith

While some expats are able to order goods online to ship to their workplace in Libya, many others do not have this opportunity and face having to wait until their next trip out of country to purchase any needed items.

To get around this problem, I have found a wonderful way to shop online and have the goods delivered to Tripoli within two weeks.  It is through Aramex.com and it works like this:

First go to Aramex.com and register with them.  After you have done that, choose the Shop&Ship option at the bottom left hand corner of the homepage on the website and open a Shop&Ship account.  This will cost US$35 and you can pay by credit card.  For your money you get a delivery address in the US and one in the UK. And away you go: Shopping!

It couldn’t be easier.  You can shop in any online shop. You simply supply the address given to you by Shop&Ship and your goods will be sent to them.  They give you a reference number which is in the address, and as soon as they receive the package, they ship it over to Tripoli.  When it arrives they will text you, and you can pick it up from their offices on the Airport Road.  You can also track your shipment on their website.  It can be as quick as one week, but normally no more than two weeks.

The delivery charges are LYD20 for the first 0.5 kg, and LYD10 for every 0.5 kg thereafter.  These charges are paid when you pick up the items.

Have fun shopping!
