JANZOUR MUSEUM

TRIPOLI’S BEST KEPT SECRET

Best kept secret that is, until now!

Housed in one of the 18 underground tombs uncovered in 1958, this has to be Tripoli’s smallest museum and as such it often goes unnoticed.  The museum is so small that the average visitor will probably only spend 15 minutes there but it comes highly recommended and is worth a visit.  The avid historian however will find it fascinating and it would not be unheard of to spend a lot longer enjoying the moment and allowing the imagination to take hold.

From Regatta roundabout, go towards Tunisia and take the flyover to Janzour. Turn right at the traffic lights. Right again at the 2nd roundabout (nursery on the right hand corner). The entrance to the museum is on the left hand side.  Look out for the pink gate and signage on the brick fence, ‘Museum of Zanzur’.

The museum is closed on Mondays.
